Due to a technical glitch, a whole section of this week's newsletter dropped off.
Wouldn't want you to miss out on any goss, so here is the missing bit.
A correction to the Summary of Dates
The final rehearsal for the Bayside Christmas Carols on Sunday 7 Dec will be at the Brighton Town Hall (as always) not at the Beaumaris Community Hall.

Connors Run

Event Organisers: Edwina and Rose

Vocally Wild were offered and accepted a new position at the Foreshore near North Point Café, North Road, Brighton.
A good location for us as excellent parking, close to coffee and toilets. We were asked to be present from 7.30 am and sing until 9.30am. However, the runners didn’t pass by until 8.10am. We finished singing around 9.20am, well after the last walker passed by. We were all packed up and left by 9.40am.
We had approx. 25 singers, Bill, Emma and Lazar. Most arrived between 7.15 and 7.30 as asked. If we attend in 2026 and if in this position, we could ask singers to arrive at 7.45 for a warm up ready to sing at 8.10am. Because we are close to the start in Hampton, we do not get the second group of runners/walkers joining at the St Kilda Gardens, hence we sing for a shorter period of time. This suits us better!
Russel and Ricard and Edwina/Rob arrived at 6.50am to set up the amplifiers etc. Next year we could start setting up at 7.15am which would still give ample time to set up. We were lucky that it was a beautiful morning with sunshine. Still cold and became windy causing some issues for Emma and Lazar with their music. We were given a big packet of small water bottles and a large pack of muesli bars by CR organisers – the unused items are in our storage cupboards. Both Rose and I were given lanyards as official entertainers for the event.
Next year's run is 13 Sep 2026.
[The VW Committee has discussed these and other recommendations for next year's event.]

What's on
Pets of the Homeless
Fun Run
Sunday 9 November
Kararook Park Heatherton
See website.

Pets of the Homeless is a fantastic local charity that provides support to people at risk, where they have pets and are struggling. They partner with over 80 community organisations around Victoria to provide dog and cat food packs for people in need, and have provided more than 2.5 million packs to date. They have foster carers who look after pets when people are temporarily unable to look after them (such as fleeing domestic violence or a sudden trip to hospital), and provide subsidised veterinary care to the pets of people doing it tough. They also have a funded end-of-life service for pets.
Pets of the Homeless is celebrating our 10th anniversary this year. Part of the celebration is a fun walk, being held on 9 November at Karkarook Park in Heatherton. You might like to come along and do the walk.
Thank you.
Lesley Winning (Co-Chair, Pets of the Homeless)
Vocally Wild is supporting Pets of the Homeless with donations of pet food.
Please bring any donations of tinned food for cats or dogs to the next two rehearsals (28 Oct, 4 Nov) and leave them in Rosie's basket on the music table.
Love, Unaccompanied: An A Capella Musical
Melbournaires Barbershop Chorus
7.00pm Saturday 15 November
New Hope Baptist Church
3 Springfield Road Blackburn North

Wall-to-wall harmony from acapella choruses and quartets. Highly recommended by Derek and Deb Skues, who went last year.
Also definitely need more barbershop action south of the Yarra.
